This is Beth. Beth is one of the faces behind today’s headlines.
Although, for us, she is one of our STARS.
Beth is manager of Framland, our care home in Wantage. She’s been manager for over eight years, supporting a staff team of around 36. It’s a lovely home, where residents are content and happy.
We have other STARS like Beth… I won’t run out all their names because I don’t want to sound like a laundry list.
But because of Beth and our other managers we can care for frail older people; men and women who have difficulty walking, eating, bathing, dressing, getting out of bed or out of a chair, and so on.These are the real human beings the headlines –
Care crisis as struggling nursing homes are forced to shut
Staff recruitment and retention is the biggest issue for the adult social care sector
Our full time staff tend to stay a long time; 19, 13, 11 and 9 years are not unusual. But six months ago Beth noticed that it was getting harder and harder to recruit new staff, especially for part time jobs, and we pay more than the ‘living wage’.
Will you do two things for us, please?
(1) If you live near one of our homes, encourage your friends and members of your fellowship to think about coming to work for us, and –
(2) PRAY! And encourage others to pray, too. In our charity’s 209 year history we’ve seen much of God’s “incomparably great power for those who believe” (Ephesians 1:19) We’ve seen how the Lord’s response to prayer has lifted us, again and again.
(3) PRAY for more staff for us, and for energy, wisdom, and the Lord’s joy for Beth, and our other managers.
