A warm welcome!Beating rain, cold, fatigue and hunger, our intrepid cyclists made it yesterday to our care home in East Essex.

From Luff House this morning, Manager Linda Fowler sent this picture of the welcoming committee and said,

“I Thought I would send you these photos that I took last night when Stephen and Philip arrived.  They were two hours late; tired, hungry and cold.  The residents joined in the wait but at last we saw them coming down the road, we waved our flags and cheered .

“Hot cup of tea was in order and a long awaited meal , the evening was lovely and the residents are telling the others who didn’t come out about it.  Some residents stayed up late and had a cup of tea with Stephen and Phil.

“Well done to both of them , off they went at 7.00am this morning fed , watered  and showered and a good night’s sleep!”

In the photograph on the right Stephen is snapped on arrival, giving a resident a warm greeting.  He and his son Philip will have covered 440 miles in just four days when they end their ride, today.  They will be very glad of the weekend, and a chance to recover!

So far, our web page has registered £4,634 donated by people who share our passion for good care for people with dementia.  A warm greeting

Not just in our care homes, but in the community.  Because an important part of our work is ‘educating’ and training Christians in churches and other organisations – something we make no charge for, seeing it as part of our ministry.

And at the heart of our Hummingbird care is the importance of giving each person frequent, little notes of encouragement.   It’s the same principle with fundraising too, because it’s true that ‘every little helps.’   So do encourage us!
